On Friday, July 10, we conducted a Kamakura study trip for first-year students in the Global JSL Course within Kamakura City.

The objectives of this study trip are to deepen understanding of Japanese history and culture through visits to temples, shrines, and historic sites in Kamakura, and to cultivate an independent learning attitude through group-based autonomous study. Additionally, through pre- and post-trip learning activities, one of our goals is to develop the ability to organize and communicate information in Japanese.

On the day of the trip, each group traveled through Kamakura City following pre-planned sightseeing routes, deepening their learning while engaging with historic structures and cultural properties. Furthermore, students took on the challenge of interviewing local residents and tourists, providing a valuable opportunity to practice Japanese language communication.

Working cooperatively with their group members, the students engaged in activities independently and gained numerous insights and learning experiences that cannot be obtained in the classroom. We look forward to students applying the experiences gained from this study trip to their future studies and school life.
