International Literacy
Cultivate international literacy through understanding self and others.
After graduation: Admission to mid-tier universities or language-focused universities.
In an era when every event in our world is interconnected on a global scale, this course is for students who want to sharpen their English while developing a true international sensibility. Through language training and dedicated classes, students turn fresh eyes back to their own country as well — cultivating an awareness of multicultural coexistence.
The course deepens students’ international literacy and raises their English proficiency, refining a Global Sensibility along the way. Drawing on rich overseas study and language training experiences, students develop mutual understanding across cultures and a consciousness of multicultural coexistence. They also learn aspects of Japanese culture — including the Way of Tea, the Way of Incense (Kōdō), and other traditions — and actively practice English presentations in class, so that they can carry the beauty of their own culture out to the world. After graduation, students aim for mid-tier universities in Japan, particularly in foreign languages and international relations.

Topics
International Literacy
To equip students with the foundational knowledge that international society demands, we offer a dedicated subject called “International Literacy.” Guest instructors lead sessions building communication skills and exploring world affairs, alongside studies of Japanese culture — English tea ceremony, the Way of Incense (Kōdō), the art of wrapping with furoshiki (traditional Japanese wrapping cloth), and more — so that our students become women who can share the best of their own country with the world.

Topics
This course nurtures the qualities, the solid English ability, and the communication skills for mutual understanding that students will need to engage with international society. Together with the Global Advanced Course, every Global Standard Course student takes part in English Camp in her first year and a homestay-based language program in America in her second year. Students can also deepen their English communication skills through short-, mid-, and long-term overseas study, exchange programs at our sister schools, internship programs at international schools within Japan, and the International Literacy subject. With many international students and students of foreign nationality on campus, the atmosphere is one of genuine mutual understanding.
