On October 20th, students from the second year Global Course began the first day of their language training program at De La Salle University in the Manila metropolitan area of the Philippines.

In the morning, an English level placement test was administered. The students confirmed their respective English abilities as a first step toward creating a learning environment suited to each of them in preparation for the two-week training program that was about to begin.

After the test, they participated in an orientation. There was also an opportunity to meet the local English instructors, and the students were filled with anticipation for the classes that would soon start. They also received explanations about the learning content and programs during the training period, deepening their understanding of life and learning at the local site.

While feeling nervous in this new environment, the students were thrilled at the prospect of new encounters and experiences. Beyond simply learning English, a major purpose of this training is to deepen their understanding of different cultures while experiencing local culture and values firsthand.

Through the two-week training program, we hope the students will develop their ability to express their thoughts in English while cultivating an attitude of actively engaging in communication.
