On September 4, three students from our school departed for a 13-day exchange study program to the Kingdom of Bhutan, accompanied by five students from Shinagawa Etoile Girls’ High School.

During this exchange program, students will visit Pelkhil School, our educational partnership school in Bhutan, where they will attend classes alongside local students while learning about Bhutanese culture, lifestyle, and education.
During their stay, students will not only experience school life at the local school, but will also participate in various activities to experience Bhutan’s unique culture and history. Additionally, students from Hakuho Girls’ High School and Shinagawa Etoile Girls’ High School will work together to interact with local students and introduce Japanese culture.
While communicating with local students using English, there may be moments of confusion due to language and cultural differences. However, by actually living in the local area and actively engaging with others, students can gain valuable experiences that cannot be obtained through classroom learning alone.

Moreover, the fact that students from both schools participate in the same program and foster exchanges that transcend school boundaries is one of the great attractions of this exchange program. As the eight students cooperate with each other and inspire one another, we are already looking forward to seeing what kind of growth they will demonstrate.
We hope that within the limited period of 13 days, through interaction with the people of Bhutan and cross-cultural experiences, students will broaden their international perspective while also taking the opportunity to reconsider themselves and Japanese culture.
