Today we held the finals of the Global Course Speech Contest.

During the 2nd semester, in-class speech contests were held in Hospitality classes to select the finalists, and today saw the chosen speakers from 1-3, 1-4, 2-3 and 2-4 present their speeches, which they had worked hard to research, write and memorise.

The first-grade students focused on the positive aspects of Japanese culture, talking about the traditions and everyday practices they would like to share with the world. The second-grade students thought more globally about human rights, and how they would like to help change the world.

Through these speeches, students demonstrated not only their communication skills, but also their ability to think critically, and express their own ideas with confidence. Above all, the key takeaway from today’s contest was the importance of having a voice, and the responsibility to use that voice to take action and contribute to a better world.

We are incredibly proud of all the students who participated and showed great courage in presenting their ideas in front of a large audience.

本日、グローバルコース「スピーチコンテスト決勝」を実施いたしました。

本コンテストは、2学期に行われたホスピタリティの授業内クラススピーチコンテストを経て、各クラスの代表生徒が選出され、決勝として開催されたものです。当日は、1年3組・1年4組・2年3組・2年4組の代表生徒が出場し、これまで時間をかけて取り組んできた調査・原稿作成・暗記の成果を堂々と発表しました。

1年生は「日本文化の魅力」をテーマに、伝統や日常生活の中から、世界に向けて発信したい内容についてスピーチを行いました。一方、2年生は人権をはじめとするグローバルな課題に目を向け、より良い世界を実現するために自分たちに何ができるのかを深く考察した発表を行いました。

本コンテストを通して、生徒たちは英語でのコミュニケーション能力だけでなく、物事を批判的に捉え、自らの考えを自信をもって表現する力を大いに発揮しました。特に、「声を持つことの重要性」や、その声を行動につなげ、より良い社会の実現に貢献していく責任について考える、非常に意義深い機会となりました。

多くの聴衆を前に、自身の考えを英語で発表するという大きな挑戦に臨んだすべての参加生徒の努力と勇気に、心より敬意を表します。
