August 14 (Friday)

From August 14, we visited Dixie High School.
In the morning, after engaging in ESL classes, students met with their buddies, local students, and participated in classes together. While showing signs of nervousness, the students exchanged souvenirs they had prepared in advance and greeted everyone with smiles.

After class, the buddies’ friends also joined the group, and we could see the students deepening their exchanges. By actually spending school life together with American high school students, they were able to fully experience the atmosphere unique to a local high school.

Since Friday’s program ended in the morning, the students spent the next three days, including the weekend, with their host families. As it was the last holiday to be spent in Utah, it appears they had fulfilling experiences, going out with their respective host families and being taken to various places.

August 17 (Monday)

This day turned out to be the last day spent in Utah.
In the morning, we visited Dixie High School again, following Friday’s schedule, and participated in classes with our buddies. Unlike the nervous atmosphere of a few days prior, we could see students actively engaging with their buddies and local students.

In the afternoon, we held the final ESL class of this program. In addition to writing letters to their host families, students practiced for the farewell party scheduled for the evening. At the end, each student presented in English about their thoughts and feelings from their life in America. Through the course of the training, it seems students have gradually developed the ability to express their feelings naturally in English.

That evening, we held a farewell party with the participation of all the host families who had supported us throughout the program. A representative student from Hakuho Girls’ High School gave a greeting in English, expressing the feelings they had developed through this study abroad period and their gratitude to their host families and the many people they had met.

Afterwards, all participants performed “Count on Me,” and finally, each student received a certificate of completion.

As students reflected on their approximately two-week stay in Utah, they appeared to be recalling the days spent with their host families and the many people they had met. The venue was filled with smiles and tears, creating a warm moment that conveyed how this training had become an irreplaceable experience for the students.
