Exchange Program with Miriam College Students from the Philippines

2026.09.20

We were visited by 10 students from Miriam College in the Philippines from 29 May to 10 June as part of our sister school program. As their visit has come to a close, we’d like to thank our visitors for sharing their time with us at Hakuho. Although typhoon Jangmi brought some unexpected changes to the schedule, the exchange was filled with memorable experiences, cultural learning, and new friendships.
During their stay, the exchange students joined a Japanese cooking lesson with our Food Course, and learned how to make dorayaki. They also took part in a cultural exchange event with the entire Global Course, where the Miriam students introduced their school and country through wonderful presentations and music. In return, our students shared a presentation about origami and presented them with strings of paper cranes as a symbol of friendship.
As Hakuho’s students studied online, our guests enjoyed a busy final three days in and around Kanagawa. Their adventures included a trip to Tokyo DisneySea, where they rode the Tower of Terror more times than was sensible! They also visited Kamakura, the nearby beach, Yokohama and Cosmo World. These experiences gave them more opportunities to explore Japan and create lasting memories together.
On their final morning, students gathered to exchange emotional goodbyes before heading to the airport. While it was difficult to see them leave, we are grateful for the friendships that were formed during their stay. We are pleased to report that all students and teachers arrived safely back in Manila last night. We hope this visit was as fun and fulfilling for them as it was for us, and we’re looking forward to seeing them again when we visit Miriam College in January.
