Starting from July 20 (Monday), school life at SRI Pine Hills, our exchange study destination, began.

On the first day, despite feeling nervous, our students greeted and introduced themselves in English to local teachers and students, and participated in classes with their buddies. They experienced a diverse range of programs, including science classes learning about cells and chromosomes, classes where they created and presented haiku in English, Malay language classes, and activities where they made and actually flew Malaysia’s traditional kite, the “Wau,” among many other experiences.

During classes, there were moments when the speed of English proved challenging, but their buddies kindly supported them each time, allowing them to engage in their studies with confidence. Each experience of encountering new cultures and learning has become a significant stimulus for the students.

On the second day, July 21 (Tuesday), the students appeared more relaxed and were deepening their interactions with their buddies. They enjoyed conversations about Japanese manga and folded cranes together using origami brought from Japan, nurturing friendship through natural communication.

In class, they learned about the development of medicine during World War II and took on the challenge of first aid role-play. They also participated in a play performed by local students and experienced yoga classes, gaining opportunities to learn while moving their bodies.

The students are showing a proactive attitude in speaking English on their own initiative, growing steadily as they repeatedly take on challenges without fear of failure. Through their school life at the local school, they are developing not only language skills but also cross-cultural understanding and communication abilities. We look forward to their continued growth.
