Reiwa 8 (FY 2026) Sports Day Held

2026.05.14

On Wednesday, May 12, 2026, we held the 2026 sports festival at Todoroki Arena.
Many parents and guardians came to watch on the day, and the students spent an exhilarating day demonstrating the results of their everyday practice.

This year’s sports festival theme was
「Smiles Ablaze, Youth Afire ~This Moment We Will Never Have Again~」.

This theme carries the wish that the students would throw themselves fully into the events and the cheering together with their friends, and make it a sports festival filled with smiles and passion.
It also carries the hope that every single student would be a leading player, treasuring the irreplaceable moment that is “now,” deepening the bonds with their friends, and creating the very best memories.

The students were divided into four colour teams — red, blue, yellow, and green — and in preparation for the day they worked hard at cheering and event practice in the mornings, after school, and during lessons.

The opening ceremony began with a declaration of the opening by the student council president, followed by addresses from the principal and the chair of the executive committee, and then a powerful athletes’ oath from the cheering squad captains of each colour, and with that the sports festival got under way.

The morning programme featured a wide variety of events, including an obstacle race, 「Eye of the Typhoon」 by Grade 10, the 「Figure-Eight Jump Rope」 by Grade 11, the 「Costume Parade」 by Grade 12, a three-legged relay, an inter-class relay, and an inter-club relay.

This year a surprise event, the 「Teachers’ Colour Team Relay,」 was also held. The sight of each colour’s team of teachers giving everything they had to pass on the baton drew loud cheers from the venue, and the students were thoroughly delighted.

The inter-club relay was divided into a 「regular relay division」 and a 「performance division,」 in which each club put on heated contests and performances that made the most of its own distinctive character, bringing the venue to life.

During the lunch break, the brass band club, the cheer dance club, and the dance club gave exhibition performances, adding a special flourish to the sports festival.

The afternoon programme began with the cheering competition between the colour teams.
The entire student body came together to put on a powerful display of cheering, and the whole venue was filled with excitement.

In the grade-level events and the volunteer events that followed, the students gave full expression to everything they had built up in their lessons and rehearsals, and could be seen tackling the events in cooperation with their friends.

At the closing ceremony the winning team was presented with its award, after which the whole school watched a sports festival digest video produced by students of the Media Art Expression Course and the photography club.

Through this sports festival, the students built up their unity across the boundaries of grade and class, and were able to deepen their friendships and their bonds with one another.
We hope that they will make use of this experience in their school life from here on and go on to spend even more fulfilling days.
